Do You Know How To Identify The Scam?

Securing your identity and protecting your information is something we take very seriously. At Blue Ridge Bank, we are not just committed, but proactive in protecting your information. We track emerging fraud trends to ensure your safety as a customer. Understanding the risks and how to avoid them is key to safeguarding you and your assets. Here is how you can be vigilant in how you respond to fraudulent mailings:

Here is a scam that we have noticed recently in some areas of our footprint. We want to make you aware of what to look for when receiving fraudulent mailings and how to keep your information safe.

1. Where does this mail come from?

When looking at this postcard, it references the zip code 19047. This zip code is in Langhorne, PA. Blue Ridge Bank has no branches or offices in Pennsylvania, so this could be a clue that this did not come from your bank.

2. Are there typos in our bank name?

This postcard refers to a mortgage with "Blue Ridge Bk" instead of Blue Ridge Bank. When receiving mail from companies, pause to think about the bank name and if it is a correct spelling.

3. Is the mail relevant to you?

Did you purchase or refinance your home with our mortgage team? If you have a mortgage, take a look at your mortgage ID, does it match? If not, these are clear giveaways that this mail is phishing for more information.

4. What does the fine print say?

Scammers are not always this helpful, but the fine print here states that Blue Ridge Bank did not provide the information for this postcard. Always read the fine print for additional clues when everything else seems odd.

What should you do when you receive suspicious mail?

If you receive questionable mailers, or receive alternative inquiries that require you to disclose confidential information, please report the issue to your local Blue Ridge Bank branch. You should never submit sensitive information (Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, etc.) via email or contact forms on our website.

Never use the information provided. Always contact our customer service team via our website's contact information or your mobile app messaging center. Please note that we would never solicit you to give us your personal or online banking information via text message, email, phone, or internet. The only time this information is required is when you contact us.
